I have been struggling with low platelets for some 7 years. I have been taking predisolone ranging from 4mg to 10mg this past year which just keeps me around the 25,000-50,000 level.

I have been trying to ascertain what may cause the low platelets ranging from food, makeup, skin care, creams, vitamins, herbs etc.

I think I may have identified that salicylate acid may be a factor and am trying at present to avoid salicylates e.g. strawberries, tuna, peppermint, almonds to name a few which are very high in salicylates in the food area.

My doctor says stress is a main factor, but how one deals with stressful situations must differ from person to person. I meditate, exercise and try to do all the right things.

My natureopath has suggested a gluten free diet, and says I am gluten intolerant. Have been trying to do a gluten free diet for some time – a bit hard to follow (and expensive), but have tried for awhile, with no remarkable increase in the platelets.

Just wondering if face creams, make up may be a problem. Also any cosmetic procedures, e.g. laser, IPL, Led light, botox, skin tightening, restylne, just to name a few?

Would very much like to follow through on any of your suggestions re herbal remedies, as I have been reluctant to take herbs, as my doctor feels that herbs can have a bad effect on blood.

Your two single herbs and two simple vitamins is of interest to me. Thank You.
