Personally, I liked Chad Everett with his gorgeous eyes and nice body. James Brolin as Dr. Kiley always looked like he never washed his hair. Plus his ears looked too big. I just wish my doctors could look as nice as Drs. Gannon and Kiley :-)

Good show. O. J. Simpson was in an episode–before he killed his wife and the waiter who served her last meal.

Any reason why, and also, what does she think of the current shows?

When i watched this TV series, I was very young. maybe around ten. i could not understand too much about it. But now i still remember the operation theatre with ‘audience’ above.

The intro brings back some memory. i am excited to see the ambulance.

My mother was a nurse, and she HATED this show.

The first version was all meical calls and dialog. Very sterile and to the point. This was from season 3. Season 2 had a very simular sound, but cleaner. I’ve been looking for that one too.

Chad Everett had quite the bulge when he wore his scrubs.

    VERY 70’s.

  12. chuckcolson Says:

The theme was also issued on a Verve 45. A Hank Williams song was on the B-side (!!)

What a great intro song and show for the ’70s. Hard to believe that this classic is not shown on TV Land or anywhere else.

  16. Zitbam19 Says:

Love this theme, very early 70’s. Thanks so much. and Chad Everett YUM!!!!

  17. DiverDanielBautista Says:

Yes, Lalo Schifrin composed this theme which, if I’m not mistaken, was not used in the opening credits until the second season of the series – though Schifrin’s involvement with “Medical Center” went as far back to his scoring of its pilot, “U.M.C.”.

  18. blabblab1212 Says:

Did Lalo Schifren compose this song?

  19. char4him99 Says:

exactly. I dvr Marcus Welby but would love to see this show again..

As kids we watched this because there was nothing else on. We saw “adult” shows with “adult” themes. Now it is all geared to the under 20 crowed.

This is the show that got me into medicine.

  21. toonguy85 Says:

What a spectacular theme!!! I remember sitting in front of the TV as a kid, watching this opening, then going off to bed. I can’t remember much about the show itself, but the theme is second to none!

  22. orsampso Says:

for all you trivia buffs, here’s a little bit of info. The minimoog and hammond organ parts of the theme were played by james Hooker. You can google the name and get more info on his music. Also he has some postings on youtube also.

  23. Jude1968 Says:

another great ’70s show buried in vaults…all these channels and no one can play reruns of old stuff like this?

  24. recordman64 Says:

REALLY? It’s been a while since I’ve seen “Cool Hand Luke”…this might be a great reason to watch it again!

  25. StukInBuf Says:

Don’t forget his writing of the “Cool Hand Luke” music… the tar-sequence was the revered theme music for many an “Eyewitness News” broadcast in many cities!
