Robert Redford in The Natural – The Final Homerun
This is one scene that I’ll never forget. The Natural is a film that gives glory and magic back to the game of baseball. DISCLAIMER: This video is not meant to discredit those filmmakers involved in The Natural. I am not apart of the black market, or affiliated with a private interest group hellbent on taking money from the filmmakers. This is a simple posting of one my favorite scenes for casual enjoyment not to take anyone’s work away. It will not offer the meaning of life nor will it …

One of the best American Sports movies ever made….this is what all ball players wish they could do in one important game….

They are the ones that are far and few in between and they are the ones that are not the respective recipients of respectful acknowledgement. Baseball these days is more scandalous then the 1919 Black Sox.

There are still Naturals–but not many. They are the ones who get into the zone. They are the ones that get into their bubble and SEE from the inside-out. They are the ones that can become of space and outside of time. They are the ones that are fearless. They are the ones that don’t take steroids because they have the Right Stuff.

To this day I still get goosebumps….

Robert Redford recently said he chose the number 9 on his jersey as an homage to his hero, Boston Red Sox legend Ted Williams.

If you’re Irish and enjoyed ‘The Natural’ you would absolutely love ‘Rudy’ starring Sean Astin. It’s an American football movie, but it’s totaly inspiring and has a terrific soundtrack and unlike ‘The Natural’ it is based on the true story of Daniel ‘Rudy’ Reuttiger.

I am number 9 on my team. And after mutliple seasons of baseball, my arm finally gave out just like this bat and my rotator cuff is partially torn now. It will be a long time before I have the money or time to get surgery. So hoepfully I will go out just like Roy Hobbs.

this movie was made from a book written by bernard malmund in the book he takes the money. the end is not so good.

Probably the greatest sporting movie I have ever seen and that’s coming from an Irishman who doesn’t know a lot about baseball! Watched it again on TV recently and I still find myself saying “Come on Roy!” during this final scene! Totally engrossing and it’s like I’m right there in the crowd urging him on! Roy Hobbs – all American hero – what a guy! Kept his integrity, didn’t take the bribe and always played his heart out!

It’s a 25 year old movie that still gives anyone chills

there was no roy hobbs as we know but this story was taken from Eddie Watkis who played with the phillies in the 1950’s he was an up and coming player but was shot by a women in a hotel room, the story itself is pretty much true

Even though Roy Hobbs is a fictitious player his legacy is more genuine than all those of whom have cheated and used steroids and nowadays I can’t believe that the all-time home run and basehit leaders are cheats. It’s a true shame. But watching The Natural revitalizes my memories of baseball when it was a game. Bud Selig and baseball officials are ruining the game with the players too. If players cheat and are still playing why watch? I don’t any more. Baseball sucks now. No Naturals.

When he was younger, he was shot by a woman who was shooting all the great athletes of the day, it ruined his young carier

It’s too bad about what’s going on with baseball these days.
From overinflated salaries, players who are anything BUT natural, to just generally exploiting the sport.
Here’s hoping when the Selig era ends, the 2003 steroid users list is released and all are FOREVER banned from cooperstown.
I’d much rather have Pete Rose in the Hall, than any of the juicers.
Best time of my life was playing little league. Sadly, I grew up and never really played again.
Great sport, great film!

When he was younger, Roy struck out the best player in the world and was headed for great things when some lady seduced him into coming to her room.
She shot him in the chest and committed suicide… Years later, after being poisoned, it’s discovered the bullet head had destroyed his stomach lining and if he were to keep swinging, he could end up killing himself.

Hobbs (Redford) was shot by a crazy woman earlier in the film and it almost ruined his baseball career. The blood is somehow from that, and its just to add suspense to the scene. I would strongly recommend renting (or buying) the movie, instead of watching clips, it’s a very good movie

Can someone explain the blood on the uniform? I don’t understand…

My dad was a baseball player. This movie always reminds me of him.
