Volunteer in Abofour Health Care Center in Ghana
Saturday, November 7th, 2009This organisation details with the administrative aspect of health care in the Offinso District. Coordinates all the hospitals, maternity wards and clinics in the area to provide effective health care to residents.This placement requires volunteers as there is lack of manpower in the different department. Abofour is a small community of approximately 7,000 people and it is located approximately an hour and half from Kumasi. Kumasi is the second largest city in Ghana and is situated in the central region of Ghana. Abofour is one of the 5 urban centers of the offsino area. The Abofour Health Clinic is a 24 hour maternity and general clinic. It provides medical assistance to 13 small rural villages throughout the Offinso area.
Volunteers must be of age 20 or above with minimum education of Undergraduation. Volunteers with the following special skills are preferred for the placement:-Doctor Nurse Medical Student Pre-Med Student Health & Hygiene Training HIV/AIDS Awareness Training Public Health Sexual & Reproductive Health Training
Volunteers can assist by doing following tasks:-consultations with patients assisting with prenatal care and delivery out reach programmes (weighing of children, counselling, immunization) food administration to women and children home visits
